Our tax resistance campaign has succeeded in getting a response from government (see below), but still no action. Let’s build up the pressure with this petition.

Here’s what the BC Ministry of Housing had to say this past weekend in response to our campaign: “We all recognize that homelessness is a complex problem, and one that has become particularly acute during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the start of the pandemic, nearly 3,000 spaces of temporary accommodation have been leased by the Province through BC Housing across BC.”

A walk through Strathcona (or anywhere in downtown Vancouver) will quickly show that creating 3,000 temporary spaces wasn’t nearly enough to address the local housing crisis. Far from it. Let’s believe our own eyes and keep standing up for safe homes for all.
