Well, you tell me? I was about to send this petition in but maybe we need more than a racecourse without moored boats? Maybe Vancouver needs a motorless water area like False Creek that is safe for paddlers and rowers? A place where danger is not waiting around the corner. Could this be road rage on the water? Am I reading the Safety Act incorrectly and paddlers and rowers aren't protected? Should we all be very concerned? We ask other boat owners to stop until a race is over - after all, it's usually only a couple of minutes - and they always agree, because 99.9% of boat owners are reasonable and responsible - and nice! In the 26 years I've been with dragon boat I've never encountered this before until this year. This is a video of the last race today, during which a charter boat veered onto the race course, seemingly oblivious to the fact he is surrounded by boats and close to 300 paddlers. Even his guests seem concerned. What do you think?
