Hello, Thanks very much for signing our petition! Yesterday at 6 am, when we realized that 6 boats were still moored on, or too near, the race course in False Creek, it was if a switch was flipped. This isn't a new problem, but as the world gets more crowded, the problem seems to be growing. That's when we realized that this year we have to work and help solve this issue for now and forever, and the petition was written quickly. As you probably noticed, there were a couple of typos, but that doesn't make the message any less important. Since putting the petition up we have received almost 750 digital signatures, and lots of great emails of support. Some of you reminded us that it's not just boats getting in the way that's a problem. We've all been there when some irresponsible boat owner pumps their tanks right out into False Creek, and it's not pretty. Thankfully, it's just a few boaters who do this, but in the summer when the weather is hot and the water is already murky, e-coli introduced by some rogue boat can reproduce with abandon, making the water unpleasant and unsanitary. So if you are a recreational paddler, rower, neighbour, friend, supporter, or even a boat owner who has seen this problem before, and you want False Creek to be clean and safe for everyone, please help us make False Creek moorage free, and send the link to everyone you know. Thanks again! Organizing Committee Dragon Boat BC PS Here's the most recent story from reporter Eric MacKenzie of 24 Hours Newspaper Thankfully
