Cannabis sales are expected to have at least a 1000% increase in sales overall for the next 2 years and California is not only one of the best places to grow it but it is legal to purchase and there is and 15% additional sales tax to purchase it. This city could be the only place to purchase recreational cannabis in more than 300 miles of the 99. Legalizing recreational could make this city LOTS of money. I’ve even asked for a provisional approval. Help these existing businesses stay in business and make some money for your city as well. 

I have also emailed the Mayor and council members about this. It’s been at least 6 months that I know of with discussion. It’s time to vote and do this. It makes sense. 

   ***There is a Council member who feels that although the state has legalized this more than 2 years ago should be put on the ballot to be voted on. Doing this actually cost the taxpayers money.Each item you vote for on a ballot has a fee.     

  He has heard numerous people speak to how violence has not risen and financially it has benefitted each city that has allowed Recreational Cannabis Sales. He heard the Chief of Police in Tulare say he was not against it. This is 2019 not 1999 we need to change with the times not kill our city staying in the past. Yes farming is our foundation but we have been in a drought and need to allow to build from within. We have the space to build our downtown into a fun area. We house the County Fair and largest Ag Trade Show in the WORLD!!!! Let these tourist enjoy a few dispensaries like they enjoy the at least 14 full service bars this city has. 

The council has dragged this out so long and the businesses that are here will not be able to stay open if the city doesn’t make a decision soon. The council who claims to support local businesses isn’t really the reality of how they do things. The council owes it to the citizens to stop wasting time and do what’s right. This isn’t the 60’s and 70’s we are all aware of the actual benefits now and fear cannot lead us anymore. 

We have to start somewhere. Let’s start with what we have and see how it goes
