Stop the City of Surprise from annexing & approving so many Home Projects in NW Dist 1.
The Issue
Currently there are at least 10 new developments slated to be built in Northwest District 1 of the City of Surprise.
This area currently has 2 roads in and 2 roads out. It has no amenities, no gas, no stores, nothing.
This area is also not maintained very well by the city of Surprise. From Jomax north to Dove Valley has terrible temporary roads. Side streets are either dirt, asphalt that is in bad shape and some are even maintained by the homeowners.
We have a terrible problem when it rains, the flood plains have changed and when the monsoon hits, some roads (Dale Lane and Peakview) are totally washed out. Leaving huge sink holes and very dangerous situations. During the monsoons we are usually stuck in our homes for hours because the washes have you locked in. Heavy rain days cause seriously dangerous situations. Rescue, fire, school buses and residents can't get in or out. One day last August there were 10 flood rescues and it took 7 hours to get 5-7 miles home.
So now the City is annexing and approving hundreds and hundreds of new houses in these 10+ developments. This is just wrong. We don't need more houses out here. Especially when the 5 (Asante, Desert Oasis, SaddleBrook and Rancho Cabrillo) developments that are being built right now don't even have the houses SOLD YET!!
The Lone Mountain and Marisol (163rd to 151st E/W and Dixileta to Dove Valley N/S) project are particularly terrible ideas.
Dixileta borders Saguaro View association residents and backs up to the CAP canal. That canal has 4 or so tunnels in it that dump the rain water in our washes. So what will they do for that? At best it will cut off all natural irrigation to Saguaro View. Killing our landscapes, wildlife and clean country view. And I hate to even think what’s going to get flooded during monsoon.
The city can’t fix the roads. Or put in a reasonably priced pad for a store or a gas station. But man do they know how to build wells and waste water treatment plants for the developments.
And I’d like for the councilmen to all come out here and look around. And look at all the pictures on our Facebook page of the flooding delema.
And look at the tiny strip of land they want to put single housing up against 2 1/2 - 10 acre parcels. ( Lone Mnt Ranch)
The only thing I see in developing that tiny area is GREED & MONEY. At the cost of what???? Everything we moved out here for, that's what.
The meeting for Lone Mountion and Marisol is next Tuesday at 6pm at Desert Oasis Elementary. 17161 W Bajada Road.
You might want to try to be there.
