Hey Everyone! Thanks to all of you for taking the time to sign the petition to calm the motor vehicle traffic on Pershing Avenue between Flora Street and Harding Way. We are now officially Friends For a Safe Pershing Avenue.
We have over 525 signatures and are moving towards our goal of 1,000 signatures. Please reach out to us if you can give a little time to canvass your neighbors. You can PM us at katyaevanhoe@gmail.com
We also need donations to buy more signs. Our goal is to have our red and white Drive Like Your Kids Live Here signs throughout our Midtown neighborhood. PM us if you can buy a sign or 5 signs and share with your neighbors. The signs are $7.29 each. A ten dollar donation for each sign would be welcome to help with printing and flier costs.
The City of Stockton Public Works people have reached out to our group. They are aware of the speed race track on Pershing.
Although the HAWK light at Rose and Pershing is in the pipeline, it’s going to be two years before it is installed.
Meanwhile, Public Works is going to immediately install a radar solar “You Are Going” sign on the Northbound side of the street. They are also recognizing the immediate need for more larger MPH signs and will install them on both sides of Pershing. In addition we will be getting a speed tracker wagon in October.
Our group is meeting once a month to share ideas and gather information. Our next meeting will be on October 19 at 6:00 at Victory Park, on the corner of Argonne and Pershing Ave, the northeast corner of the park. Please come and be part of Friends For a Safe Pershing Avenue.
