Eliminate Taxpayers Subsidy of Mile One Centre

Eliminate Taxpayers Subsidy of Mile One Centre
The Issue
The simple fact is that Mile One Centre has been costing the taxpayers of St. John's money for YEARS.
Earlier this year, the City cut spending for numerous essential services such as Metrobus, Snowclearing and Fire Fighting.
Now a local business has put forward a plan that eliminates an operating subsidy and injects millions to revitalize an aging and underutilized facility and City Council has been silent.
Something doesn't make sense here. The City's newest consultant report for the privatization of Mile One Centre was due to be released to the public "in the fall" then it was "December" then it was "early January" now it is "anticipated to be released in the next few weeks". We've waited long enough. Stop wasting our time and money.
If not this, then what is the plan to stop wasting our money on the operation of this building?
