City of Raleigh- Allow Floats and Vehicles to the 2023 Raleigh Christmas Parade!

City of Raleigh- Allow Floats and Vehicles to the 2023 Raleigh Christmas Parade!
The Issue
For 78 years, the Raleigh Christmas Parade has been a cherished tradition for our community. Families and friends gather along the streets of Raleigh, NC, USA, eagerly awaiting the festive floats and vehicles that have always added joy and excitement to this annual event. However, this year, the City of Raleigh has denied any motorized vehicles and floats from being present in the 2023 Raleigh Christmas Parade.
As a residents of this community, we have fond memories of attending the parade with our families since were were just children. The sight of beautifully decorated floats and vehicles gliding through the streets filled me with wonder and ignited my holiday spirit. It was an experience that brought our community together like no other.
Unfortunately, this year, the City of Raleigh's staff restrictions imposed that all floats, vehicles & anything motorized must be excluded from our beloved Christmas Parade. This decision has left many residents disappointed, frustrated and asking why parade organizers were not given the opportunity to present their changes and improvements for this year's event and we are asking for a return to tradition.
This year's event should continue as it always has and should be a year to honor the life of Hailey Brooks and allow parade organizers to share their plans for change.
We believe it is crucial for us to bring back floats and vehicles to the Raleigh Christmas Parade just as they have been permitted in other parades within our city this year. By allowing these elements back into our parade:
1. We will revive an essential part of our community's history: The inclusion of floats and vehicles honors 78 years of tradition while ensuring future generations can continue enjoying this iconic event.

2. We will attract more visitors: Floats adorned with creative designs captivate both locals and tourists alike. By reinstating them in our parade, we can boost tourism revenue for local businesses during this festive season.

3. We will foster creativity among participants: Allowing floats encourages organizations, schools, businesses, artists, musicians – everyone who wishes to participate – to showcase their talents through innovative designs that reflect their unique identities.

4. We will enhance community engagement: Floats and vehicles provide an opportunity for local organizations to connect with the community, raise awareness about their causes, and promote civic engagement.

5. We will give a chance to all participants that require the use of vehicles and floats despite any mobility, health or other varying conditions.
By signing this petition, we urge the City of Raleigh City Council to reconsider its decision and permit floats and vehicles to be back in the Raleigh Christmas Parade. Let us revive our cherished tradition, bring joy to our community, and create lasting memories for generations to come.
Together, let's make this holiday season truly special by restoring what makes our parade unique. Join us in demanding that floats and vehicles be included once again!
