The hearing is Tuesday, August 7th at 6 pm in the chambers at City Hall (downtown Prattville). Please try to attend. The council represents the citizens and they need to know what we want.

If you wish to speak, you will be allowed 3 minutes. If you don't speak, that's OK. Your presence alone will speak volumes.

We have 2 items up for vote to remove the apartments in the map:

1.       City Wide Zoning Amendment – NO APARTMENTS!!! We want the Council to remove the procedural loophole that allowed apartments in specific zoning WITH a requirement that the loophole is also removed from the proposed Smith Rezoning (see map). If this doesn’t get voted in, then we need a NO vote on the McQueen Smith to Hwy 82/31 rezoning amendment. 

2.       Smith Rezoning Amendment - NO APARTMENTS!!! We will lose our “Preferred” quality of life. Apartments will overload the schools, create traffic issues in the neighborhoods & McQueen Smith Road, decrease your property value and increase crime. Amanda Lane and Jay Street will become a major entrance/exit adding 1000s of cars jeopardizing the safety of DPES/Smith Center students.

Call, email and ask each council member and the Mayor to deny these apartments and keep calling!
