Urgent City Council Meeting this Wednesday, May 11 @ 6:10PM

Although the city assured us as late as April 21, 2022 that Flex would not be on the agenda in the next few months:

"City Council has requested that FLEX issue should be taken up as a part of the Comprehensive Plan update. The Comprehensive Plan update will begin sometime over the next few months. We are currently working on finalizing the RFP for the update with the Procurement Division. Once the agreement is entered into with the successful firm, we will be setting up some public meetings to obtain input and feedback from HOAs, local businesses, etc. "

It now appears that several Legislative items related to this FLEX Issue will appear on the city council agenda this coming Wednesday 5/11/2022 at 6:10 pm:

At this meeting, they will not only be proposing legislation to change Flex Rules to allow for the use of flex units at 8601 Sunrise to allow a development much larger than allowed under current zoning but this legislation may also allow for changing of Flex rules to allow for Unified Flex throughout all of Plantation.

If Unified Flex is approved without the proper consideration as to how it can be utilized, this would allow for 2000 ÷/- units to be placed anywhere in Plantation regardless of current zoning. These units could be placed anywhere including in a single-family low-density area like Plantation Acres.
