City Council - District 4

This morning the kids and I attended Community Coffee with Councilwoman Laura Pastor of District 4.  She acknowledged that her office had received the proposal I sent over last week.  She explained that she sent the proposal to Parks & Rec for them to look at the initial feasibility which is the first step.

She was impressed that we'd received 600 signatures in our first week. Maria from her staff requested for me to send a list of the signatures that could be forwarded to Parks.  I sent those earlier this afternoon.

Native Connections

Yesterday, Native Connections responded to my email requesting a meeting to discuss the plans for the course and seeking their feedback...and hopefully support and approval. I have a meeting scheduled with Dede Devine, CEO of Native Connections, for Thursday afternoon. Regardless of whether she supports or opposes our plan, I appreciate her willingness to meet and discuss the project.  I am excited to present the project and to understand her vision for the Park.  I will send out an update after the meeting.

The Community

When we started this project, we really had no idea what to expect.  We spent a lot of time putting together research, walking the Park, and writing the Proposal.  After all those hours and with the personal nature of this project for us, it is scary to put your work and yourself out there for the public to see and judge.  In those moments, the worst-possible response is not criticism or debate. It is apathy, nobody caring enough to fight or support the project.

I am happy to say that we have not seen anything that resembles apathy. In fact, we have not received an iota of negativity or opposition to this point (which is a little scary).  The community of local neighbors and city-wide disc golfers have been extraordinarily supportive and giving.  We have been shocked at how kind people have been and mesmerized as we watch the number of signatures climb every few minutes.

Thank you all and stay tuned for updates!

P.S.  Jude, our 5 year old, beat his previous best score yesterday evening at Los Olivos by 3 strokes.
