More public toilets for our local parks

More public toilets for our local parks
The Issue
Have you noticed there are no public toilets between Beecroft and Carlingford Court? However, there are several beautiful parks and walking tracks that local community members of all ages visit regularly.
In consultation within our local community over a number of years, options for utilising the disability friendly passive recreation that is integrated with open space for all abilities at Hazlewood Rose Park in Carlingford is limited by lack of an accessible amenities facility.
There is enormous potential for fostering intergenerational and all abilities community bonds by capitalising on the existing infrastructure - exercise equipment, level walking paths, 6 x purpose-built chairs of the correct height and dimensions to allow those using a wheelchair to sit and stand with ease. There is playground equipment for young children to enjoy, with ample level street parking for ease of access as well as solar lighting.
Having an accessible amenities facility would allow the community to gather and stay for longer periods to enjoy the open space and benefits that come from it. Ray Park Heritage Group is funding a weekly Physiotherapy Walking Group aimed at elderly people with limited mobility. Our launch day was held on 9th May 2025, and since weekly sessions commenced on 23rd May 2025, there are regularly 30 participants however there have been up to 65! Some of these participants were withdrawn from community due to their lack of mobility, and they have realised great benefit from this targeted activity and connection with their local community. There's now a morning tea roster and it's great to see community connections being made and strengthened through this activity. ALL participants lament the lack of an accessible toilet!
The City of Parramatta's Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2026-2030 promises a more liveable community for all residents. That's why the Ray Park Heritage Group is collecting asking the Council to install wheelchair accessible toilets at Hazlewood Rose Park and other local parks.
We need your help! If you're local to Beecroft, Epping, Carlingford, Cheltenham or other adjacent suburbs, please sign this petition to show your support for more public toilets in our local parks.
