Hi All, The Council will be making a decision tonight on whether or not to admit that they violated the Brown Act when they had a substantial discussion about the solar carport that was not on the agenda at the December 15, 2015 meeting. At that meeting, Pat Eklund tried to place the topic on the agenda. Against the warnings of the city attorney, the council and city staff had an 18 minute discussion of the matter after most of us had left the room. The attorney had cautioned that the city policy is only a three-minute discussion to place an item on the agenda. (The Brown Act for open meetings requires that the City Council follow its stated policy). We have formed a group TransparentGov Novato and are asking them to cease and desist violating the Brown Act laws for transparency, when they conduct meetings without public notice and when they post misleading and inaccurate agendas.
