Every Monday evening, City Council has a public speaking input session from 6 to approx 6:30 pm. This session is a very effective way in presenting your support for the 50 metre pool and the reasons why. We have spoken to all the city Councillors, and whether they support to pool or not, the one common observation they have is that they do not hear people stepping up at council to support the pool and the previously proposed and passed Harry Jerome development. They do hear from folks who do not support the pool, citing that it is too expensive and not required.
If you want to be heard, and make a difference with City Council, take the 2 mins, and say your piece to Council in person. It is only 2 minutes max that you have, but it is a very critical 2 minutes. (2 minutes is equivalent to approx 1 page or less of written verbiage)
The sign up to speak in the public input session opens at 5:30 Monday evening just outside the City Council Chamber. Normally a maximum of 10 speakers can sign up to speak. This is sometime increased, but must be voted on by council. The Councillors will only listen and will generally not ask any questions.
Unless we visually and vocally step up, there is a very real possibility that we may loose our pool.
It UP TO YOU - Both city and District residents can speak on this subject as it is a shared facility
Thanks
