SAVE MT. PLEASANT BOWLS CLUB!
The issue
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
The Mount Pleasant Bowling Club (MPBC) is at risk of closure by The City of Melville.
The City of Melville is looking to redevelop the land with new housing and community facilities, where the club has provided a fun, recreational, safe and social place for over 60 years to not only our members, but to our lovely local community as well as the general public intrastate. Due to increased densification and a growing population, this community facility that provides indoor and outdoor recreation that suits all ages is vital and must be retained and improved so that it continues to provide services into the future.
The local council has held a review with its residents regarding the redevelopment of the site where the MPBC is located. The collated statistics show the majority of the local community have provided feedback suggesting the support to redevelop the site, whereas less than half objected to the redevelopment. The statistics are below have been taken from the City of Melville Website:
- n=41, 46% supported one or more of the concept plans
- n=11, 12% provided comments or concerns on the proposed redevelopment
- n=37, 42% objected to the proposed redevelopment site
We desperately need our community to come together to keep this establishment operating for the next generation. In addition to this, we would like to have the City of Melville:
- Extend and vary the current Lease Agreement with the Mount Pleasant Bowling Club (MPBC) to provide an extended lease period of 21 years with a further 21 years option;
- Renovate and extend the Clubhouse to update the facilities including the provision of facilities for the disabled and vary the conditions of use to allow wider community usage;
- Completely waive any outstanding debts or liabilities owned by the MBPC to the City of Melville.
To make this happen, we need your help...
