With the sudden influx of residents into Marong and the projected population of 8000 by 2030, it is now essential that the public transportation system is extended to Marong from Bendigo and following townships to accommodate for this ever increasing growth. 

Adding a public transport network from Marong to Bendigo will benefit the local community immensely, in particularly for our elderly population who may have no other form of transportation. Adults, students, families and the elderly would have regular access into the city allowing them to meet their day to day requirements, whether that be attending classes, medical appointments, work or even just heading into the city for a day out.

By adding this transportation system, it means our community (in particular our students and elderly) don’t have to rely on others to transport them around. It also gives others the opportunity who may simply prefer to catch public transport into town, instead of driving and adding to the congestion. This in turn, would cut down on traffic flow between Marong and Bendigo by reducing unnecessary road traffic and pollution levels.

There is no doubt that Marong now has the population to support such a service and demand for it will only grow. Therefore, we, as a community are requesting that this service is introduced as soon as possible to accommodate the ongoing development in this part of Greater Bendigo.
