Update on the Brunstane Fields campaign: last Friday (16th) the Council published its formal 'Intention to Adopt' the draft LDP (Local Development Plan) which includes allowing 1,330 houses to be built on Brunstane Fields. The LDP is now with the Scottish Ministers for a 28 day period after which, unless the Ministers intervene, the LDP will be duly adopted. This means that we now have just a few weeks to persuade the Council to change its mind.
Thanks to the generous support of 132 local residents we've raised £5,288 towards the cost of an Advocate's opinion on the legality of the LDP (as regards Brunstane Fields). We're overwhelmed by this show of support from the community - but we're still a wee bit short of the £5,500 target for instructing a QC. The CrowdJustice page is open until noon this Saturday (24th) and you can make a pledge here:

All donations are very welcome, no matter how small - literally every pound helps! Remember, donations are anonymous.
We are also in the process of organising objections to EDI Group's outline planning application for the development of Brunstane Fields. The initial deadline for responding to this was 30 September - just 21 days from the notification (which is the standard time period for any planning application e.g. putting on a dormer). Given the size of the proposed development, and the large volume of documents that accompanied the planning application, Cllr David Walker requested that the deadline be extended by a further 21 days - to 21 October - and the Council has granted this request.
You can object to the development plans on Edinburgh Council’s planning portal – click on this link to access the relevant page: goo.gl/1qng0y – or by emailing the planning case officer - catriona.reece-heal@edinburgh.gov.uk – with the email subject “Objection – Planning Application 16/04122/PPP” and ensuring you also include your name and address in the email. You may also find this short PDF briefing – http://bit.ly/SBGB07 - on the main reasons for objecting to the development of Brunstane Fields greenbelt useful when completing your online objection or email.
Many thanks once again for your continued support for the campaign to save Brunstane Fields Greenbelt from development.
