What price a decent pair of lungs?
We have evidence the Council cycle track scheme will lead to more pollution in Roseburn, not less… To dangerous levels, making it the most polluted place in Scotland. Howso? You will need to watch our new 7-minute video to find out. “The Roseburn Plume” uses evidence from a recently retired SEPA expert to show Nitrogen Dioxide levels will rise way beyond the 40 ug/m3 legal max. The result? Asthma, low birth weight, COPD, coughs and cancer are but a few of the ailments residents face from rising NO2. A 9-yr old girl died in London last year at levels we anticipate for Roseburn.

The Murrayfield Community Council (MCC) will hold an emergency debate on Tuesday (tomorrow) at 7.30pm – please come. Read the motion at http://www.kidsnotsuits.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/EmergencyMotionPollution.pdf – what we seek is that the Council commission an independent study along the lines of the petition they refuse to validate, which can be seen in the motion.
We want this to go to the Transport Committee meeting on Thursday morning, which starts at 10am. There will be a deputation there from the MCC, who will also be challenging the Council over its hopeless response to the traders petition [seeking compensation if their business fails because of the CCWEL]. Please read the Council response which they will seek to pass on Thursday on pages 4-6 at http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/download/meetings/id/60743/item_61_-_business_bulletin
If you are free on Thursday at 9.30am please come to our RALLY AT THE CITY CHAMBERS! We shall provide gas masks to those who want one. Bring a placard- just some writing on cardboard will do. The press will be invited.
If you can come to the Chambers on the High Street, Royal Mile, we can get a photo of us all together and then we can go into the Transport meeting and hear how the Council responds to our fears. The next Transport meeting is not until 8th August, by which stage the Council hopes to be commencing work, and they may claim that they cannot halt the contracts. So action now may well save lives.
Best wishes, Pete Gregson, The Roseburn Vision Group
