City Staff and planners at the City of Eastvale anticipated submitting their Housing Element to the California Department of Housing & Community Development on October 15, 2021. That is the deadline required of all CA cities. However, what started as resident OPPOSITION to a high-density project at the corner of Sumner & Schleisman, has quickly turned into an all out call for TRANSPARENCY from the City of Eastvale. So much of the Housing Element process was taking place WITHOUT required resident input and the deadline was drawing near. Residents have been packing City Hall at every meeting regarding the Housing Element thanks to volunteer groups and social media spreading the word. City staff was forced to change the timeline and will be submitting the Housing Element to the state over 4 months after the deadline.
Residents have voiced their concerns, but no conversations have ensued, and no questions have been addressed. The new timeline added more meetings and presentations, but still no OPEN FORUM or true WORKSHOP is being offered to residents. We will NOT allow the City of Eastvale to add a bunch of meetings to their check-off lists of evidence to the state and claim they are Community Input Opportunities, when in fact they are just one-sided presentations.
