The Rose District Farmers Market in Broken Arrow is tentatively set to open the weekend following June 1st. That could change if we don’t move to phase 3 of the re-opening plan. A few more weeks of the market being closed may not sound like a big deal, but we cannot know what that extra income could mean to a farmer or rancher. Especially those with perishable product. I believe the Farmers Market is an essential piece of our food supply and should be open during all phases!

While the virtual market is great for those in high risk categories who have chosen to shop virtually, it does have its drawbacks for vendors and customers alike.

If we can shop at a supermarket I firmly believe we can innovate and safely have an in person Farmers Market. Even if that means moving the location to allow for social distancing. Even if we need to rent hand washing stations.

Lets give our farmers and ranchers the OPPORTUNITY to set up their booths and sell their meat, eggs, dairy, vegetables, and fruit in person!
