Stop the 4 lane highway being built in Brantford across the Grand River

Stop the 4 lane highway being built in Brantford across the Grand River

The Issue

The construction of this 4 lane highway will create a number of disturbances for people in the community, the animals who live along the river and the natural environment

The PEOPLE who will be affected by this are those of the following-

Camped at Brant Park - you will now sleep by the river under the stars while hearing the cars of 4 lanes

Floated from Paris to Brant Park - the last thing you will see as you end your peaceful and fun adventure floating down the river will be a 4 lane highway which adds noise and air pollution

Walks with friends and family - have you found an escape walking through the trails? Showing your children the first glimpse into the world or nature ? Have you met a friend and had a long chat about life while breathing in the fresh air and enjoying nature?

Biking - Brantford is the hub of southern Ontario trails. People from not only Brantford but surrounding areas will pass through and end up here. With this highway it'll be like riding through a city

Peace - peace is hard to find these days, and those that seek it by the river will now find themselves staring at highway instead of a peaceful river

The WILDLIFE AND NATURE that will be affected

Deer - I've photographed numerous mamas and fawns that jump through the flowering fields nearby. This morning I stood on the pedestrian bridge and looked out to a deer crossing the river while a blue herron flew by

Mink -  One morning while drinking my coffee from a thermos a mink came from the river bank into the water and then sat on a rock with the bridge in the background. If this was a road this wouldnt have happened

Beaver - on a morning like the one described above a beaver swam by me. Directly in front of the bridge

Eagles, Ospreys and Herrons - These birds routinely fly down the river. Sitting in silence you can sometimes hear their powerful wings if they fly low enough

This area is home to so many native plants, animals, birds that will be disturbed. The people in our community will also lose a connection to nature.

All over Canada this happens in nature where it ends up costing the government ( which is funded by us) waaay more to reverse damages done to natural spaces.

If you have enjoyed the Grand river in Brantford, this is going to affect you
