HOMELESS CAMPING ORDINANCE UPDATE
We have 3 days to go before the Jan. 18 deadline to submit our signed petitions to put reinstatement of the camping ban on the May 2021 ballot.
As of this morning we can announce that we have surpassed 26,000+ signed petitions and we are collecting roughly 1,000 a day right now.
We are currently on pace to hit our goal, but we really need your help.
HOW YOU CAN HELP RIGHT NOW:
1) SIGN THE PETITION: If you are a registered voter in the City of Austin (and vote in city council, mayor, and proposition elections), please sign the petition today and mail it in. You may download the petition here (https://documentcloud.adobe.com/link/track?uri=urn:aaid:scds:US:afe3cfce-0840-41dc-a001-c3c3fa836804). Download it first, print it, fill it out legibly, and drop it off. It's now too late to mail in. You must drop it off by Sunday night (full list of locations here (https://www.saveaustinnow.com/dropoff-locations). If you would like the petition to be emailed to you as a pdf, please email matt@saveaustinnow.com.
2) COLLECT AT LEAST FIVE SIGNATURES: Same method as above. Solicit friends, neighbors, colleagues and family members who live in the city of Austin. If everyone who has signed so far collects one new signature, we hit well over 30,000. Must be dropped off. We can also arrange drop off options (email matt@saveaustinnow.com).
3) WE NEED VOLUNTEERS THIS WEEKEND: We need all kinds of help validating signatures, in the office, and collecting in person. To volunteer, please fill this out -- https://form.jotform.com/200565023717146.
4) DONATIONS ARE NEEDED: We need to raise another $15,000 immediately to finish our in person collection efforts, text message campaign, and digital ad campaign. We STILL have ~15,000 additional people who want to sign but haven't signed yet, and we must go find them and collect their signature ASAP.
