HOMELESS CAMPING ORDINANCE UPDATE
Dear Save Austin Now supporter -
We have 6 days to go before the Jan. 18 deadline to submit our signed petitions to put reinstatement of the camping ban on the May 2021 ballot.
As of this morning we can announce that we have surpassed 23,000+ signed petitions and we are collecting roughly 1,000 a day right now.
We are currently on pace to hit our goal, but we really need your help.
HOW YOU CAN HELP RIGHT NOW:
1) SIGN THE PETITION: If you are a registered voter in the City of Austin (and vote in city council, mayor, and proposition elections), please sign the petition today and mail it in. You may download the petition here (https://documentcloud.adobe.com/link/track?uri=urn:aaid:scds:US:afe3cfce-0840-41dc-a001-c3c3fa836804 Download it first, print it, fill it out legibly, and mail it back TODAY. 2) COLLECT AT LEAST FIVE SIGNATURES: Same method as above. Solicit friends, neighbors, colleagues and family members who live in the city of Austin. If everyone who has signed so far collects one new signature, we hit 30,000. Must be mailed back today. We can also arrange drop off options (email matt@saveaustinnow.com).
3) WE NEED VOLUNTEERS THIS WEEK: We need all kinds of help validating signatures, in the office, and collecting in person. To volunteer, please fill this out -- https://form.jotform.com/200864088436157.
4) DONATIONS ARE NEEDED: Every dollar we have right now is committed to a specific purpose. I am truly concerned it will not be enough in the final 12 days. We need to raise another $30,000 immediately to finish our in person collection efforts, text message campaign, and digital ad campaign. We STILL have ~19,000 additional people who want to sign but haven't signed yet, and we must go find them and collect their signature ASAP.
