HOMELESS CAMPING ORDINANCE UPDATE
Dear Save Austin Now supporter -
We have two pieces of very good news.
First, given the time it took for the city to analyze our signed petitions in the summer, we now have a Jan. 18 deadline to submit 30,000 signed petitions to qualify for the May 2021 ballot. This means we have 15 days to go.
Second, as of this morning we can announce that we have surpassed 15,000 signed petitions and we are collecting roughly 1,000 a day right now.
We are currently on pace to hit our goal, but we really need your help.
HOW YOU CAN HELP RIGHT NOW:
1) SIGN THE PETITION: If you are a registered voter in the City of Austin (and vote in city council, mayor, and proposition elections), please sign the petition today and mail it in. You may download the petition here (download it first, print it, fill it out legibly, and mail it back ASAP). If you would like the petition to be emailed to you as a pdf, please email matt@saveaustinnow.com.
2) COLLECT AT LEAST FIVE SIGNATURES: Same method as above. Solicit friends, neighbors, colleagues and family members who live in the city of Austin. If everyone who has signed so far collects one new signature, we hit 30,000.
3) SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER: We need all kinds of help validating signatures, in the office, and collecting in person. To volunteer, please fill this out.
4) DONATE RIGHT NOW: Every dollar we have right now is committed to a specific purpose. I am truly concerned it will not be enough in the final 15 days. I would feel better if we had another $50,000 come in immediately. With $100,000, I can guarantee we will hit 30,000 by the deadline.
