HOMELESS CAMPING ORDINANCE UPDATE

Dear Save Austin Now supporter -

Last week, we shared the news that we have sued the city of Austin over their disqualification of legally signed petitions by Austin residents. That fight will take several months -- but we are committed to fighting it.

But in order to put reinstatement of the camping ban on the May 2021 ballot, we need to have a second pathway to qualifying for the ballot, in case we do not succeed in court.

Today we are announcing a parallel effort to qualify for the ballot.

We are going to being a second petition collection effort.

Last year we collected 24,500+ signed petitions over 148 days. Beginning now, we are starting over from zero -- as required by the city, and we are aiming to collect 30,000+ signed petitions by Jan. 12. The ballot language deadline for the May 2021 ballot is February 12.

We are going to be safely collecting petitions in person (through volunteers) and through the mail.

If you signed it before, you need to sign it again. If you did not sign before, we need you to sign this time.

Only Austin residents who are registered voters can sign.

HERE'S HOW YOU CAN SIGN

FINANCIAL SUPPORT NEEDED NOW

To collect 30,000+ signed petitions, we will need to mail out well over 150,000 households in the next 3-4 weeks. This will be expensive.

Please consider donating to our efforts now.

There are two ways to give:

 > You can securely donate here -- https://secure.anedot.com/matt-mackowiak-save-austin-now/donate
 > You can make a check to "Save Austin Now" and mail it to 807 Brazos St., Ste. 408, Austin, TX 78701.

We are going to win this fight for our city!

Thank you!
