We the people of Jackson County, Oregon urge the city council members in Medford and Ashland to follow suit with Talent. To write a letter to our representatives calling for an end to the genocide in Palestine as well as US tax dollars being used to fund Israel. 

This is the letter we will be presenting to the city council.

       We write to you as concerned residents of Jackson County, Oregon regarding the escalating violence and humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

      I implore you, as a representative of our community, to write a letter urging our Oregon representatives to take immediate action on this critical issue. The ongoing conflict in Gaza has led to devastating consequences for innocent civilians, with countless lives lost, homes destroyed, and families uprooted. As taxpayers, we are deeply troubled by the fact that our hard-earned dollars are being used to fund a genocide. We, your constituents, are tired of witnessing the senseless loss of life and the destruction of an entire population.

      Therefore, we respectfully request that you draft a letter to our Oregon representatives, applying pressure for the following urgent actions:

1. Demand a Ceasefire in Gaza: We urge you to call for an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire between the conflicting parties in order to prevent further loss of life and destruction.In addition, the release of all hostages and arbitrarily detained people on both sides. It is essential to prioritize the safety and well-being of innocent civilians caught in the crossfire.
2. Provide Humanitarian Aid to Assist the Palestinian People: The people of Gaza are in desperate need of humanitarian assistance to rebuild their lives and communities. We ask that you demand sufficient aid be provided to ensure the recovery and rehabilitation of the Palestinian people, including access to clean water, medical resources, housing, and educational opportunities.
3. End Military Funding to Israel: We strongly oppose military funding to Israel, as it undermines the balance of power and perpetuates the cycle of violence. We urge you to advocate for resuming and redirecting this funding to support peace-building initiatives and diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict.                                                                                                       By writing a letter as representatives of our city, you have the power to amplify our collective voice and exert additional pressure on our Oregon representatives. This is a vital opportunity to urge our elected officials to reconsider their stance on this issue and take meaningful action towards saving the lives of the Palestinian people. We sincerely believe that it is imperative for our representatives to prioritize peace, justice, and the well-being of all people involved in this conflict. Only through a concerted effort can we hope to achieve a lasting solution that ensures the dignity, safety, and freedom of both Palestinians and Israelis.
