My name is crystal rosa and I live in mayfield Hts Ohio with my family. I have grown up here and now am the third generation to live in the home my grandparents built with my husband , children and our beloved mini pigs. In the 1950's an ordinance was put into affect that no resident shall own/keep livestock within city limits. I have owned mini pigs for the last 5 years, many people know and or have seen them as I've walked them around the city on a leash. My mini pigs live inside my home as every other family member does. I was approached a few weeks ago by our animal control stating that I had to get rid of them for they fall under the livestock ordinance. Asking me to get rid of my pigs is like asking me to get rid of one of my children! For anyone that doesn't know or is not familiar with mini pigs, they are not livestock! Livestock would mean that I have the intention of raising for slaughter or selling for slaughter. Help me to change/amend the ordinance to help my family stay together. They are of no danger to anyone, they do not live outside, they are not being raised to sell or slaughter, they are not hurting anyone by being in my home! Let's save the hurt my family and our members (our pigs) will feel if they are no longer aloud to live where they've only known their home to be.
