The Albardão region in the extreme south of Brazil harbors a unique coastal and marine environment which is not only of immense value for Ecotourism and generation of sustainable jobs and income through organized tours, but also for the protection of many critically endangered marine and coastal species.

The creation of Albardão National Marine Park is likely to be the last chance to save some of these species from extinction. Its establishment will promote both Brazil and Rio Grande do Sul in the international conservation scenario as guided by responsible authorities which recognize their place as good stewards of their peoples' natural heritage  in this critical junction of History.
