Unfortunately, on 12-21-2021, the Borough of Churchill Council voted 5-2 to approve the conditional use permit application filed by Hillwood Development LLC to build an Amazon distribution center in the heart of Churchill. The 2 members who voted against the application, Adam McDowell and Norma Greco, stated the application did not meet the criteria of the Borough code. The others listed money and development as their rational.
Over 30 Churchill residents spoke during the meeting against the proposal, one spoke in favor.
We are now ready to file an appeal of this decision, as well as oppose the project during the Land Development Permitting process.
All of this will take many hours of effort, and a lot of money. We are prepared to put in the sweat equity. We need help with the funds to pay legal bills.
