One year ago – in response to a questionnaire submitted by Metro Vancouver – “Today’s BC Liberals” stated the following: “Today’s BC Liberals have added more than 39,000 net-new hectares to the Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR)...In 2011, we reaffirmed our commitment to the ALR with amendments to the ALC Act and $1.6 million in additional one-time funding in order to strengthen compliance and enforcement and provide additional resources.” Today, as government, the B.C. Liberal party wants to gut the very same ALC that “Yesterday's BC Liberals” had reaffirmed its commitment to both in 2011 and again in 2013. Maybe it would be a better idea to “reaffirm” the commitment your party made twelve months ago to Metro Vancouver – and by extension all British Columbians – rather than steamrolling ahead this week with second and third reading of Bill 24. Because what's really changed so much since last year that you're now willing to break your word with all British Columbians?
