Stop the supply of weapons to countries committing war crimes

Stop the supply of weapons to countries committing war crimes
The issue
Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia has led an alliance of Arab states on a bombing campaign in Yemen's north against the Houthi rebels that overthrew the government. Many other western countries -including Australia- have contributed to this attack on Yemen by supplying Saudi Arabia with arms. However, I believe we should follow in the footsteps of Holland and Spain, by withdrawing our supply of arms on the grounds of human rights.
Australia knowingly supplying arms to a country that is perpetrating one of the worst humanitarian crises in the 21st century is morally wrong. Essentially, we are profiting from the death of the Yemeni people.
Since when did money matter more than human suffering and lives?
When did we choose to put profits before people?
When did we choose to put money before morality?
No amount of money can amount to the cost of one human life, let alone thousands.
We supplied help to the Thai school boys who were trapped in a cave, so why aren’t we supplying help to the Yemeni children our weapons are striking down? On the 9th of August this year, 29 school children were killed by a Saudi Arabian air strike. The only thing Australia is supplying is weapons to kill more children. This number adds to the UN estimated death toll of more than 9,245 people who have been killed and 52,800 injured since March 2015.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein, has estimated that Saudi-led coalition air attacks caused almost two-thirds of reported civilian deaths. At least 5,558 of those killed, and 9,065 of those injured up to 14 December 2017 were civilians. There have been many more deaths since this time.
According to the UN Human Rights Council, civilians have repeatedly been the victims of "unrelenting violations of international humanitarian law". 22.2 million people - need humanitarian assistance, including 11.3 million people in acute need who require immediate assistance to survive - an increase of 1 million since June 2017.
Australia needs to stop supplying weapons to countries like Saudi Arabia, who are committing war crimes, as it means we are complicit in the killing of innocent human beings.
