Hi Everyone,

We’re making strong progress with a commitment from the SA Labor Opposition leader Peter Malinauskas and Shadow Attorney General Kyam Maher to work with me on this potential law reform. Disappointingly SA Attorney General Vickie Chapman has rejected my petition call. Please see The Australian article covering this news on 30 April on p7.

This progress comes as I am fighting once again to keep my sister’s rapist murderer Jonathan Bakewell behind bars after he breached parole on 30 March for the fifth time for taking drugs – the same drugs he took the night he raped and murdered Anne-Marie.

Bakewell is a sadistic rapist murderer - made even more dangerous due to his drug taking. I’m once again calling for Bakewell’s parole to be cancelled. His parole breach hearing is this Tuesday 4 May.

I received media coverage for my campaign calling for Bakewell’s parole cancellation and also the law reform petition in The Advertiser 26 April p9, Radio Fiveaa David and Will program 29 April (listen from 1:23) and The Australian 30 April p7. I’ve also done an interview with ABC radio Adelaide for the Ali Clarke breakfast program which I’m hoping will run on Monday 3 May.

Friends, our voices are being increasingly heard and we have strong momentum. Please continue to share the petition widely to your family, friends and networks.

I also encourage you to email your local MP, your state Attorney General and the new Federal Attorney General Michaelia Cash, with your call for this law reform, with a copy of the link to this petition.

Together we can make law reform a reality.

Together we can make our nation safer for women and children.

Thank you,

Eileen Culleton
