Demand justice for Myles Webster

At just 22 years old, Myles Webster was sentenced to 60 years to life after injuring a police officer during a foot chase. This extreme punishment effectively condems him to spend the rest of his life in prison. Yet people convicted of far more serious crimes have received significantly lighter sentences. For example, Jerry Maisonett received 22 years to life for the brutal stabbing and shooting of two people, his girlfriends parents.

How can someone who injured an officer receive a sentence more than twice as severe as someone convicted of a double homicide? This case highlights seriious concerns about the fairness and inequality within the U.S. justice system. Too often, when cases involve police officers, the penalties become extraordinarily harsh—especially when the accused comes from a minority community.

Myles Webster has already spent 15 years in prison, including over four years in solitary confinement SHU. Solitary confinement alone can cause severe psychological harm. No one deserves to be buried alive in a prison cell under a sentence that appears disproportionate.

Justice should not depend on who you are, the color of your skin, or who you encounter during a moment of fear and chaos. Justice must be fair, consistent and humane.

We call on Kelly Ayot, Governor of New Hampshire, to review Myles Websters sentence immediately. This case deserves an objective reassessment and a sentence that reflects fairness, accountability, and humanity.

After more than a decade behind bars, Myles deserves hope, not another 50 years of punishment.
