We are calling for Chris Minns to immediately resign as Premier of New South Wales.

 

Chris Minns allowed the Israeli President, Isaac Herzog, to visit Australia while peaceful protests were blocked and shut down. At the same time, police were allowed to use force against protesters, including physical assaults, simply for speaking out.

 

This is not acceptable.

Peaceful protest is a basic democratic right. Blocking protests and responding with heavy-handed policing sends a clear message that free speech only matters when it’s convenient for those in power. Many people were prevented from assembling lawfully, intimidated, or hurt for exercising their rights.

 

By allowing this visit to go ahead while cracking down on protest and permitting police brutality, Chris Minns has failed that responsibility.

 

We demand accountability.

 

For undermining the right to protest, for allowing excessive police force, and for putting political optics above civil liberties, Chris Minns must resign.
