A stirring new photo series documents the lives of children and their families in Ukraine, Romania, and the UK as they approach Christmas while they are living in a war zone or as refugees in Europe, including an eight-year-old girl whose hair has started to turn grey and a nine-year-old girl who has put peace at the top of her Christmas wish list.

Bomb shelters are becoming places to give birth. Homes are being demolished for people. Schools and hospitals are devastated. Simply put, why?
