Neighbors,
Last night, our community showed up.
More than a dozen residents attended City Council, and many more viewed in support. We had strong, informed voices representing our neighborhood and Council members listened.
Several stayed after the meeting to review the plans with us. For many, it was the first time they had seen the differences side-by-side.
And those differences are real.
Where things stand
- Construction is already underway
- Plans have changed in use and intensity (including an athletic field and playground where passive space was approved)
- The Planning Commission has not reviewed these changes
- Residents were initially blocked from accessing plans, citing a policy that could not be identified
- Those same plans were approved on Sunday, April 19—just before they were released
We also have confirmation from City leadership that:
- Key conditions are not being enforced
- Crossing guards are considered a “gray area”
- There is uncertainty around whether original conditions remain in effect
Why this matters
The Planning Commission approved this project with specific conditions and a site plan designed to protect our community from overdevelopment and its impacts, including traffic, noise, safety, emergency response, property values, and overall quality of life.
If those plans or conditions have changed, the process requires review. That has not happened.
What we are asking for
- A pause on construction until review can occur
- Planning Commission review of any changes
- Enforcement of the conditions already established
CALL TO ACTION
We need you to act today.
- Email the Mayor and City Council
- Tell them you support:
- A pause on construction
- Planning Commission review
- Enforcement of conditions
- Tell them:
“We expect the City to follow its own process.”
This only moves if we create pressure.
Last night got their attention. What we do next determines what happens.
We’re making progress, but we’re not done.
Stay engaged. Stay vocal.
