We’ve reached the end of Gold September.
It’s been a tough journey discovering more about this disease and how it affects children , adolescents and their families.
We only have 13 public sector hospitals in SA for some 60million people. There are very many benefits to early detection. Using SILUAN will detect most cancers in children. “That is the most important aspect” according to Prof Gita Naidu, Paediatric Oncologist at Chris Hani- Baragwanath Hospital.
The International Society for Paediatric Oncology ( SIOP ) today hosted a landmark meeting that we attended. The new ‘European Beating Cancer Plan’ was released to the public just yesterday committing billions of Euro’s to this cause which will have a platform at every level : presidential, parliamentary, Ministry, WHO etc.
We still need to do more .
In their own words :
“The EU has been actively working to reduce the incidence of cancer for decades, and its work has paid off”.
For us in Ga-Rankuwa, in South Africa and Africa as a whole, we’re still a long way from success.
We need your support.
