More THAN 1.5 LAKH OF CATTLE are dying of STARVING in Kollegal Taluk Karnataka
The Issue
More than 1.5 Lakh of CATTLE are dying of starvation in Kollegal Taluk Karnataka. The forest authorities are denying them entry to their traditional grazing land. Animal Husbandry is providing fodder compensation for not even 1% of the cattle population. The state is experiencing severe drought conditions. There is no food, no water, no rain.Cattle have become weak and dying .Villagers are selling them for cheap prices to slaughter houses.
- The only fodder station arranged by Animal Husbandry department is in Rampura and provides for less than 500 cattle.
- 27 gram panchayats where situation is critical - Gopinatham,Male Mahadeshwara,Ponnachi,Mattalli,Koudalli,Koratihosur,Hoogyam,Meenyam,Dinnalli,Ramapura,Basappanadoddi,Ajjipura,yellemala,Managalli,Bandalli,Shagya,Mangala,Kongarahalli,Kannur,Bellatur,Chikkamalpura,P.G Palaya,Lokkananahalli,Suttur,Bailur.
- Forest officials have cordoned off the area forgetting that cows and progeny forms important part of ecosystem, they are unruly and beat the cows with sticks if they are found near the cordoned area as per villagers.
Authorities have turned their back to plight of cattle, will you too?
If not, then join us in our battle to save these innocent lives.
