Giustizia per Wang Wang e i suoi cuccioli: chiediamo una legge contro il maltrattamento animale in Cina

Questa è una storia che spezza il cuore, una tragedia che non può e non deve essere dimenticata. A Jieyang, in Cina, viveva Wang Wang, una cagnolina randagia di quartiere. Era amata da tutti i residenti del rione per la sua dolcezza. Aveva appena dato alla luce tre splendidi cuccioli e cercava solo di proteggerli e crescerli.

La sua vita e quella dei suoi piccoli sono state spezzate in modo atroce da quattro ragazzi minorenni. Con una crudeltà spaventosa e ingiustificabile, questi giovani hanno torturato e ucciso barbaramente i tre cuccioli. Non contenti, dopo averla picchiata selvaggiamente, hanno dato fuoco a Wang Wang mentre era ancora viva.

La cagnolina è morta a causa delle terribili ustioni e delle ferite riportate. Una violenza inaudita, documentata e diffusa sui social, che ha sollevato un'ondata di indignazione e sdegno in tutto il mondo.

Il vuoto legislativo: perché i colpevoli non pagano

Davanti a un orrore simile, ci si aspetterebbe una punizione esemplare. Invece, la realtà è drammatica: nella Repubblica Popolare Cinese non esiste ancora una legge penale nazionale specifica che tuteli gli animali domestici e i randagi dai maltrattamenti e dalle violenze. Trattandosi inoltre di aggressori minori di 14 anni, le autorità locali si sono limitate a disporre per loro un percorso di rieducazione in istituti speciali. Nessun processo penale, nessuna vera condanna per aver torturato e bruciato vive delle anime indifese.

Perché questa petizione riguarda tutti noi

Anche se questa atrocità è avvenuta lontano, la crudeltà non ha confini e la richiesta di giustizia deve essere universale. Non possiamo voltarci dall'altra parte. Le oltre 5000 persone che hanno già firmato questa petizione dimostrano che la comunità internazionale chiede a gran voce un cambiamento epocale.

Chiediamo che la morte di Wang Wang e dei suoi cuccioli non sia vana, ma diventi il simbolo della fine di questa impunità. Chiediamo alle istituzioni cinesi e alla diplomazia internazionale di ascoltare il grido di milioni di persone in tutto il mondo.

Cosa chiediamo concretamente con questa petizione:

Al Governo della Repubblica Popolare Cinese e al Congresso Nazionale del Popolo: L'introduzione immediata di una legge quadro nazionale sul benessere animale che criminalizzi il maltrattamento, la tortura e l'uccisione degli animali, prevedendo pene severe anche per i minori e per i loro tutori legali.

All'Ambasciata Cinese in Italia: Di farsi portavoce presso il proprio governo del profondo sdegno e della richiesta di giustizia che arriva dai cittadini italiani ed europei.

Fermiamo la crudeltà. Firmiamo e condividiamo per dare voce a Wang Wang, ai suoi cuccioli e a tutti gli animali che oggi non hanno una legge a difenderli.

Justice for Wang Wang and her puppies: We demand a law against animal abuse in China

 

This is a heartbreaking story, a tragedy that cannot and must not be forgotten. In Jieyang, China, lived Wang Wang, a stray neighborhood dog. She was loved by all the neighborhood residents for her sweetness. She had just given birth to three beautiful puppies and sought only to protect and raise them.

 

Her life and that of her little ones were atrociously ended by four minors. With appalling and unjustifiable cruelty, these young men tortured and barbarically killed the three puppies. Not content, after savagely beating her, they set Wang Wang on fire while she was still alive.

 

The dog died from the terrible burns and injuries she sustained. This unprecedented act of violence, documented and shared on social media, sparked a wave of indignation and outrage around the world.

 

 The Legislative Void: Why the Perpetrators Don't Pay

 

Faced with such horror, one might expect exemplary punishment. Instead, the reality is tragic: in the People's Republic of China, there is still no specific national criminal law protecting pets and strays from mistreatment and violence. Moreover, since the perpetrators were minors under the age of 14, local authorities have limited themselves to ordering them to undergo re-education in special institutions. No criminal trial, no real conviction for torturing and burning defenseless souls alive.

 

Because this petition concerns us all

 

Even though this atrocity occurred far away, cruelty knows no bounds, and the demand for justice must be universal. We cannot turn a blind eye. The more than 1,100 people who have already signed this petition demonstrate that the international community is clamoring for epochal change.

 

We ask that the death of Wang Wang and her cubs not be in vain, but become a symbol of the end of this impunity. We call on Chinese institutions and international diplomacy to listen to the cry of millions of people around the world.

 

What we specifically ask with this petition:

 

To the Government of the People's Republic of China and the National People's Congress: The immediate introduction of a national framework law on animal welfare that criminalizes the mistreatment, torture, and killing of animals, including severe penalties for minors and their legal guardians.

 

To the Chinese Embassy in Italy: To convey to their government the profound outrage and demand for justice coming from Italian and European citizens.
