This free ads paper is delivered weekly to every home in Chico, Oroville, Paradise, and Red Bluff unless residents have specifically contacted the circulation desk of the Chico Enterprise-Record and asked to be removed from the list. Most people don't know this is an option because the paper does not publish it as an option. Most report they do not read it, resent its arrival, and wish it would stop. It litters our streets, alerts thieves of our absence when we are not home, and is a waste of natural resources.

At a minimum, the paper should prominently display a method for getting removed from the circulation list. Ideally, this ads paper will be discontinued because we, the target audience, are not reading it. It is time to solve the unwanted ads problem by requiring residents to "opt in" to receiving unrequested papers rather than having to "opt out."
