Chicken allowance, Cedar Lake IN

Chicken allowance, Cedar Lake IN
The Issue
In recent years, the steady concern over supply chains, food security and food integrity have continued to foster a growing population of residents investing into alternative methods regarding family security. One of these methods is a desire to maintain a flock within town borders to provide families with a system independent, easily maintained, healthy and reliable food source.
This area of concern can be easily supported with research on the many chemicals and additives used in industrial food supply, which leads to questions on the lack of regard for sustainable health within current systems many must rely on exclusively for livelihood. The repetitive broken supply chains also give cause for concern over maintained availability, which could cause community crisis if community is forced into a reactive state rather than preventative.
Chickens provide a good source of nutrition, are equal or less noise nuisance than any other allowed pets and would be a source of peace in times of concern. Their droppings can be turned into fertilizer, their noise pollution is no more than the birds in the trees and they're naturally quiet after dusk in order to prevent themselves becoming a meal.
To support a chicken ordinance in Cedar Lake means you care for the prosperity and provision of your residents and their desire to provide for their families in healthy, sustainable ways. To decline support due to things like nuisance noise, droppings or potential devaluation show not only a lack of research, but also a misalignment in purpose; which is genuine care and service to the people being represented.
