Renew Charlie Daniels Skate Park

The Issue

The skate park is dangerous, I have a friend who recently fell and opened his eyebrow because the rough concrete wrapped over one of the ramps which caused him to trip. The concrete around the entire area around the park is rough and painful to fall on.

The metal ramps get really hot in the summer time, there's also not much shade around the park and its so small it can get crowed very fast and very easily, which could also be a health hazard.

Places around the city such as Providence Marketplace do not allow us to skate in their area which leaves us with very little places to do anything. The rough concrete is also very harsh on our wheels, and the board itself, which also causes us to spend more money which we don’t have.

There's not a great flow to the park which itself was poorly designed in most opinions and not much diversity. All of the rails are too high for most people and most of the obstacles get very repetitive. There also aren't very many water fountains near the park, the closest one is halfway across the actual park itself which can be a struggle to get to especially with the crowd. There also aren't very many benches for people to sit on when they are tired, there is only one which is usually taken especially with the crowd due to the rise of popularity in skating.

Most obstacles are made for professionals or people that are very skilled, which wouldn't be good for beginners. The way the park is designed is very accident prone, the rails and ramps are too close which can cause skaters to collide and possibly break a bone or worse, it creates a cramped environment which could be nerve-racking. Ask anyone around the area who skates and they would agree with most, if not everything I have put in this paragraph.
