Hey guys! I am a senior at Buena High School who has been made aware that our class valedictorian, Charlie Tran, is not being given the opportunity to speak at our graduation ceremony. Myself and the rest of our senior class is very upset with this decision made on Buena's Administrations behalf, it is a tradition not only at Buena but at high schools across the nation. Charlie along with our ASB President Ella Haas had to audition for a spot to speak at graduation, despite the fact that for countless years in the past they have been rightfully handed that honor. Charlie’s efforts throughout his academic career have proven that he deserves recognition and tradition, especially during a day where we celebrate our classes hard work. While we are aware Buena is moving towards an “everyone has an equal chance” ceremony, that system completely discredits the work Charlie has done. This petition was not created to take away from the students who will be speaking, we just want to hear from our valedictorian as well.
