"Massachusetts ranked last among 48 reporting states on “maltreatment” in foster care, with nearly 26 cases for every 100,000 days of foster care — a rate more than three times the national standard. The data covered federal fiscal year 2013, which spanned Oct. 2012 to Sept. 2013;"

Bottom Line: Massachusetts statistically is one of the worse states when it comes Foster care.

With that noted I think it’s time we campaign and take seriously the thought/idea of DCF top to bottom reform. I am tired of feeling like children lost in the system do not matter. I cannot be part of a state that doesn't take care of the children who need the love the most. Children in foster care should be one of the state’s top priorities. This is our future we are talking about here, these children need love just as much as the next child. By allowing them to be mistreated and discarded as if they mean nothing only leaves the ones who survive in the shadows and ultimately sets them up for future failure. Every child no matter who raises them deserves a chance and someone sturdy to lean on, and sometimes that means the state also known as DCF. DCF needs to be a sturdy crutch and stop acting like these children’s lives do not matter, it’s as if DCF does anything needed to keep them hush and out of site out of mind. Rules, Regulations, everything down to who actually gets to care for these precious babies, all of it needs to be reformed from top to bottom. Much more care and thought needs to be put into the whole system. It needs to be done by someone with a HEART AND COMPASSION FOR THIS MISPLACED CHILDREN.
