Please charge Kyle Voissem with a felony for pouring boiling water on his dog, Byron, severely burning him. Send a message that animal cruelty cannot be tolerated. Offenders must be strenuously and aggressively prosecuted and receive strict punishment, not misdemeanor charges, for abuse and/or injury to animals. If felony charges are not possible, please give Mr. Voissem the maximum punishment.

Additionally, Mr. Voissem should be immediately barred from participating in any university-related or -sponsored activities or events, and the Head of the Department of Criminology, Law, and Justice at University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) should carefully consider whether Mr. Voissem is an appropriate member of that student body.

Please make all animal abuse a felony, and consider making it a Federal law as opposed to differing laws and punishments in each state.
