Feb 4, 2016 — https://www.change.org/p/ban-the-import-of-dolphins-from-japan-to-russia “On January 27 2016 a cargo aircraft ‘IL-76’ arrived into Moscow Airport Vnukovo from Japan carrying 14 dolphins and 2 pilot whales for placement in the Center for Oceanography and Marine Biology "Moskvarium", located on the territory of the Exhibition Center - Office of the Federal service for veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of the city of Moscow.” The Moscow and Tula region reported on the official website (http://www.rsn-msk.ru/news/n10131/ ) These 16 dolphins came from the infamous Taiji cove, which came into the spotlight after the 2009 release of “The Cove” documentary. Many people have heard about killing of dolphins in Japan but not many of them are aware that these same people are capturing and selling dolphins to captive facilities all over the world. Not many people realize that the profit of the sale of live dolphins to dolphin shows literally drives the bloody annual slaughter. This isn't the first time when Taiji dolphins ended up in Russia.
