National telethons be run (by Channel 9) to raise funds for every bush fire brigade get all the equipment they need to fight to fires safely and effectively.

All that dramatic footage should be helpful to raise funds.

This fire season is beyond the resources of most local bush communities to fund so Firefighters need our support to buy better equipment.

There are many dramatic stories and lots of dramatic footage to tell us what the firefighters are facing. This is material already available to create a great television program. The fires have already provided the drama; all that remains is to create a platform for a national response.

Firefighters need to know that nation is individually and collectively behind them. So we ask TCN Channel 9, the expert in the field, to grab this opportunity and run a national telethon to direct funds to the grass roots to make sure every bush fire brigade has all they need to train the new recruits, purchase the best equipment and stay well rested.

There is a lot we need to be doing outside of this immediate crisis like drawing carbon down and out from the atmosphere but the immediate crisis must be faced now.

New recruits to the undermanned Frontline means more resources needed for training and these raw recruits will be at greater risk than the veterans so must be as well-equipped as possible.
