My youngest daughter is a y7 pupil at Newfield School and was placed in isolation this  week due to her cycling short’s being “too short”.

Consequently she missed out on her learning that day as in isolation pupils work through work books of past learning.

I was told that her shorts need to touch her knee in order to meet with the school’s uniform policy. 
 
I find the uniform policy outdated , sexist and completely uncomfortable especially for students with sensory issues. 

Im not against uniform I understand that it helps to provide a even ground for the kids and helps them be identified when out of the school grounds.I just think that making kids uncomfortable all day isn’t helping their learning. I also think teachers have far better things to do than be the fashion police.

My petition is to propose a new uniform policy

Plain black (no logos) jogging bottoms ,leggings ,trousers ,cycling shorts, football style shorts.

Black school polo shirt

School hoody/ Black school cardigan

plain black trainers/boots 

My intention is to forward this petition along with a formal letter of complaint to the governors.

(I find it ridiculous that student can’t wear boots in winter when the school is on a hill)
