I never thought I would witness the tragedy of losing a life right outside my home, but sadly, this has become a harsh reality. A young man, with so much life ahead of him, died on Elmgrove Road in a traumatic accident. This should not have occurred, and it is a stark reminder that our current road conditions are perilous. His untimely loss has devastated the neighborhood and all who knew him and highlighted the urgency for action.

Elmgrove Road, located in a residential neighborhood, is frequented by families, children waiting for school buses, and cyclists. It's supposed to be a safe haven for our community, not a dangerous thoroughfare. Over the past two years, we have suffered the loss of four lives due to preventable accidents on this road.

The current speed limit is too high and poses an evident threat to our safety. By reducing the speed limit to 30 mph, we can make Elmgrove road a safer place for everyone. Lowering the speed limit will help drivers react more promptly to unexpected situations, potentially saving lives and reducing accidents.
