Ragged Mountain Lovers
We hope this email finds you out and enjoying the gorgeous weather on our local trails
CAMBC wanted to update you on the next steps regarding Ragged Mountain.
The next Board of Supervisors Meeting is May 15th
CAMBC came out en masse at the last meeting, and it did not go unnoticed.
We need to do the same on May 15th.
This will be a long process and this is the next step in that process.
Please again, continue to write your Board of Supervisors:
https://www.albemarle.org/government/board-of-supervisors/board-members
There will again be many options for your voice to be heard. We are continueing to ask the Board to “Change the Code” to allow all users, not restricting one user group.

CAMBC is putting together “talking points” which we feel are the most important communication points to include in your comments.
Here are some of the points, that have evloved as the most pertinent - with more specifics to come soon.
- We know that water quality safety and cycling is not an issue; that science is pretty consistent - "Change the Code" to reflect
- We have some beautiful places to ride in Albemarle county, but there are over 75 miles of "natural areas" throughout the County that are not open to cyclists: SNP, AT, James Monroe Highlands, William S. D. Woods Natural Heritage Area, Charlotte Humphries Park, Totier Creek, Fernbrook Natural Area, Sugar Hollow, Ivy Creek, Beaver Creek...
- CAMBC was engaged in a series of public input/colloboration meetings in 2014 to help establish a plan that involves all users at Ragged Mountain, including “Hiker only” trails, and Shared use trails. That public input process should not be thrown out as it was extensive, and a trail use plan was the final product of those meetings.
- CAMBC continually works as trail stewards for our local trail systems. We work with all of the land managers and multiple community partners to plan, design, and maintain sustainable trails in our comunity through the "volunteer army".
- We all know that CAMBC loves, and appreciates this beautiful place; and we are all part of this amazing outdoor community looking to collaborate with users and community partners; versus divide our outdoor loving community.
Thanks again for your love of Ragged and our local trails
Please come out on May 15th, and/or write your BOS, submit comments prior to the meeting.
Much thanks
CAMBC Board
